Panama Hat Care Information

PANAMA HAT CARE

Genuine Panama hats are handwoven from natural Toquilla straw and should be handled with care to preserve their shape and appearance.

Rolling & Packing

Unless a Panama hat is specifically described as “Rollable” or “Packable”, it should not be rolled, folded, or compressed for travel or storage.

The fineness or Grade of the weave, including terms such as Brisa, Fine Brisa or Super Fine Brisa, describes characteristics of the weave itself and does not necessarily mean that the hat is designed or intended to be rolled or folded.

Handling

Always handle your Panama hat gently and avoid repeatedly pinching or gripping the crown, as this can weaken the natural straw fibres over time. Where possible, handle the hat by the brim with clean hands.

Moisture

Panama hats are made from natural straw and should not be exposed to excessive rain or moisture.

If your hat becomes damp, use a dry cloth or sponge to absorb as much moisture as possible and allow it to dry naturally in its correct shape. Do not use direct heat, a hair dryer, or other artificial heat source to assist with the drying process.

Storage

Store your Panama hat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

For longer-term storage, we recommend using a suitable hat box to protect the hat from dust, pressure or accidental damage.

Important

Each Panama hat is made from natural fibres and individual characteristics may vary.

Always refer to the individual product description before travelling with, or packing your hat. Only hats specifically identified by Hat World Australia as “Rollable” or “Packable” should be rolled or packed in such a manner.
